I am about 2/3 through the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Integration Services book by Kirk Haselden. Without going into detail, I have not found this book to be very useful. (I will sell it if anyone is interested Big Grin) Anyone have a recommendation for a good SSIS book?

Sorry about that - Kirk is a genius for SSIS, no doubt, but I guess everyone has different tastes. I find his book to be quite academic but I like it. I could suggest Brian McKnight's book - it's pretty good. They are the only two SSIS-specific books I've read though so, if there are better ones available, I wouldn't know.

My fav spot to buy books is Bookpool: http://www.bookpool.com/ss?qs=integration+services. Their search turns up 2 other books but I don't know whether they are helpful or not.

Thanks for the response. "Quite academic" is an excellent way to describe it. It will make a good reference but that is not what I wanted/needed at the time. I will try the one you suggested. I was thinking about that one anyway. If it doesn't work out then I have two books to sell to 1/2 Price Books. In case anyone is interested, the full details are below. I'll report back after I have used it for a while.

Professional SQL Server 2005 Integration Services by Brian Knight, Allan Mitchell....
ISBN: 978-0-7645-8435-0 January 2006 720 pages

I am about 1/3 way through the Professional SQL Server 2005 Integration Services book. It was worth buying. Thanks for the recommendation, Scott. I don't view this as a Step-By-Step type book. You need a little background first. Watching the videos on LearnIntegrationServices.com FIRST is definitely the way to go. The major negative that I have thus far is that it is somewhat difficult to follow when trying to complete the example packages. More step1, step2, etc. would have been helpful. However, I have been able to make all of the examples work. Sometimes that is a major accomplishment. Also, be sure to view the corrections errata in on the Wrox website.

Good to know - now go write that as a review for that book on amazon.com and bookpool.com Wink
