Hello Folks,

I have a situation here, i need to migrate a DTS to SSIS in which we are extracting data from Oracle. We are updating some data in Oracle, checking for some rows in SQL side and vice versa, like updating data in SQL side by looking some rows in Oracle.

I'm stuck, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Syed

Hi Syed -

First question: do the DTS packages work already? I'm not 100% sure on your question (whether you want to know how to migrate from DTS to SSIS or from Oracle to SQL).

Scott,

I have watched ur videos and know how to do some migrations from DTS to SSIS, but my question is, in there(working DTS packages presently) i have some TASKS which are pulling the data from ORACLE and updating in SQLServer and vice versa, my boss says i can't use LinkServer like they are presenlty using in DTS, instead he asked me to use regular OLE DB connection to conect to Oracle and redesign the packages.

Thanks,
Syed

Okay - so no linked servers? No problem. You'll first need to add a Data Flow Task to the designer surface. Next you'll need to create an OLE-DB connection to Oracle and enter the correct info. That's really it - once you do that, you just need to define your ETL process with your choice(s) of transformation tasks. Have you been able to get the OLE-DB connection to Oracle to work?
