Bin File Options

Hi,All. I need help. I need to import .bin file from db2 database to the sql server database. Could SQL server do the import?If it could,could you please tell me how to do it.Thank You

Uhhh - what exactly is a .bin file? I know what a .bin file is if you gave me an .iso file but I don't know what db2 uses a .bin file for Frown

I am sorry that I didn't provide any sample of the BIN file. It has the fixed width length and also can be open in notepad like in the sample below,

Could the SQL server import this file to the SQL Server Database? If it can,How to do it?this file is so different from what I learn the import file from my school which I am using CSV file. Thank You.

Thanks. Yes, you could import that data. You have several choices and, for complete coverage, I would recommend this series: An Introduction to Bulk Operations, Flat Files, and Tools in SQL Server. Basically you can use bcp, SSIS, BULK INSERT, or OPENROWSET to import. Which one should you use? I can't answer that! Too many variables and not enough input Smile
