BACKUP LOG AdventureWorks WITH TRUNCATE_ONLY no longer works in SQL Server 2008.
Bummer!!!

Yeah, it was deprecated in 2005 and I still haven't heard a logical reason. AFAIK there's no quick way to get out of an emergency situation in which your log file has completely filled up and you don't have the disk space to back it up

If I had watched your LearnSQLServer2008 tapes I would have known that. Also, I now know how to get around a full Transaction Log in SQL Server 2008! (I still prefer TRUNCATE_ONLY.) Great job. Lots of good information.

Then what's the use for "Switching to SIMPLE Recovery or simply take a tran log Bakup wuth default options". This works great right!
