Hi,
I have installed sql server 2005 management studio express. And when I click on 'connect' button after entering my server name and authentication credentials,it is showing a pop up box like
'Cannot connect to server'..additional Information:A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 – Error Locating Server/Instance Specified).
Now i have googled it and even i found the solution too...the thing is i have to go to Start > All Programs > SQL Server 2005 > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Surface Area Configuration and then do some actions. But I cannot find 'SQL Server Surface Area Configuration' and even i cannot find 'configuration tools'.
My system shows like the following:
Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 >sql server 2005 management studio express.
Did I wrongly install sql server 2005 management studio express or is there any other process so that i can install
'SQL Server Surface Area Configuration'
also.
I have been struggling with this problem since three weeks. Can i download sql server 2005 completely from Internet.

Do you have the SQL Server Configuration Manager installed? I don't have a server w/ Express on it to test it but you can change your TCP setting using it as well.
